Ear Microsuction
Microsuction earwax removal is undertaken using a microscope and a medical suction device — a very thin wand-type fitting at the end of the suction tube allows the clinician to gently remove earwax from your canal.
What to Expect
Microsuction usually doesn’t need pre-treatment with drops, though two days of Earol (clinically treated olive oil) beforehand is the best preparation. Your clinician will examine your ear using a binaural microscope, and safely remove the blockage using a fine, low-pressure suction device. Using a video otoscope, we’ll also show you the condition of your ear before and after treatment.
Why Microsuction?
Microsuction is the safest and most comfortable method of earwax removal. No liquids are used, so there’s no fuss or mess, and because we can clearly see the ear canal — and exactly what we’re doing — it’s an exceptionally safe procedure. It’s usually pain-free and complete in a few minutes, making it a same-day service.
The Benefits of Microsuction
Using our services ensures your earwax is removed safely, quickly and by someone you can trust. Unlike ear syringing or irrigation, where wax is flushed out without a view of the canal, microsuction lets us directly view the canal and the wax as it’s removed — making the procedure quicker, safer and more comfortable.
